Oddly enough, yes — they already have been.
A domesticated wolf is called a dog.
A dog is what you get when you domesticate wolves.
An individual modern wolf can be “tamed” to an extent but will never be domesticated.
Why can’t a wolf be tamed?
Perhaps it’s because they do regularly attack domestic animals, such as pets and livestock. They’re animals from the same family. Scientists have confirmed through genetic testing that wolves and domestic dogs are remarkably similar. Despite their similarities, though, wolves are very difficult to domesticate.
